Raila Odinga has officially broken ranks with his NASA cohorts; Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula. In an unprecedented attack to the opposition leader, Musalia Mudavadi described Odinga as dishonest and a political cheat. The ODM leader had tried to compel his NASA counterparts not to field a candidate in the upcoming Kibra by-election and instead to support ODM’s Imran Okoth.
In an open manifest of defiance, Musalia Mudavadi hit back and reminded Odinga that Kibra was not his bedroom. Through his press secretary Kibisu Kabatesi, he referred to as ‘garbage’ the utterances made by ODM leaders in Kibra who had castigated ANC for betrayal over the November 7 by-election.
The ANC candidate, Eliud Owalo will battle it out with ODM’s Imran Okoth, young brother to the late Ken Okoth and Jubilee’s Macdonald Mariga.
The entry of Mariga has complicated the voting arithmetic for ODM in Kibra, a constituency regarded as Raila’s political stronghold. A defeat would put into question Raila’s political grip in his perceived fiefdoms in 2022.
