On Thursday last week, the Senate unanimously adopted 63 reports by the County Public Accounts and Investments Committee(PAIC) on massive graft activities in county governments. This effectively paved the way for the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to swing into action.
The PAIC report on the inquiry into financial operations of county executives in 2013-14 and 2014-15 listed several sitting and former governors who misappropriated tax payers money in their counties. Shockingly, top on the list of individuals to be investigated and prosecuted is Dr. Alfred Mutua, Machakos County governor.
Others are Martin Wambora’s – Embu; Cornel Rasanga’s – Siaya; John Nyangarama-Nyamira; Kivutha Kibwana–Makueni; Jackson Mandago’s – Uasin Gishu; Paul Chepkwony – Kericho; Salim Mvurya – Kwale and Amason Kingi – Kilifi.
Having been caught up in these serious graft allegations and knowing that Kinoti could be prowling on him, Dr. Mutua is trying to divert the attention of Kenyans by making unsubstantiated claims on imaginary threats on his life to get public sympathy. What would catch the minds of Kenyans other than claiming that your life is in danger and the culprits are VIPs?
Instead of creating drama, the Machakos governor should prepare his legal team, as DCI Kinoti and Noordin Haji are about to pounce on him.
Uliona Sonko akinyolewa; Mutua, tia kichwa chako maji.
